Is it possible this verse is
less about
God giving us whatever we want in the world,
and
more about
God changing our desires
so we want...
delight...
in Him most of all?
"Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
[...]
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him."
- Psalm 37: 4-5, 7a
It can be funny or serious... mine are a combination.
(From bad boyfriends, to ugly dream cars, to vocational ventures, to ministry hopes... God never stops changing my desires. And I pray He continues to grow my desire for Him always.)
