First posted January 20, 2010. I wonder if any Bible scholars out there could tell me whether there is any truth in this post?
Bear with me; I'm no theologian. I just noticed something that made my heart flutter.
Jesus referred to God a lot in scripture as "my Father." Not our Father or our God. Jesus'.
Until after the resurrection.
His work is finished. He died. He is risen. And He tells Mary Magdalene, "I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God." (John 20:17)
Oh, sweet Jesus. Your death made it so your Father is now my Father. Your resurrection means that your God can also be my God. You have paid the costly adoption fees that pull me into God's family. It is not exclusively reserved for You, for the Perfect One, but for all of those who are now adopted as children of God.
Thank You, Lord!
