Be Still

I heard a verse the other day that stopped me in my tracks.

How many “fights” do we think we are fighting in our lives… fighting to control our adoptions, or our marriages, or our work situations, or our children.  Yes, we have a responsibility to ACT in the way that God would have us act.  But perhaps the following verse is THE MOST POWERFUL thing we could obey:

“The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
-Exodus 14:14

Thank God that He fights for us.

  1. Hey Rachel! It's Leslie York from St. James UMC. As I've mentioned to you and Brad before, I love your blog! But today I felt particularly led to send a message to you b/c I love the scripture you included from Exodus 14:14 and wanted to share one I have been "living by" for about 2 weeks now that's along the same lines…"Cease striving and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10 (I have it on a post-it note on my printer at my desk.) You're so right, we often times "fight" so hard for things that we forget just who God is and what He will do in our lives if we just step aside. Janesse so graciously reminded us last night to be still before Him and He will speak. What a simple, but very hard thing to do. The Lord has richly blessed you and your family and it's so obvious that your heart is overflowing with gratitude. Thanks for the morning inspiration and I hope it comes back to you multiplied generously by God.
