Last week I had strep throat, accompanied by some crazy-ugly sores around my nose called impetigo. (Caution: You do NOT want to click that link if you’re eating or have a weak stomach!) So this week, when Caroline’s forehead suddenly looked more like pizza than toddler skin, I knew I had passed along my little disease.
Just think… this time next year, my bouts with sickness could cause an even bigger ripple effect, since we’ll have another sweet child in the house. Oh, the things we pass on to our children. I would love it if strep and impetigo were the worst things we’ll ever give them. Instead, we’ll probably be like most families, breeding our own strain of generational sin.
As a soon-to-be adoptive parent, I’ve found myself believing in nurture much more than nature lately. We have such a huge responsibility to pass on what is pure & good to our little ones. I just hope that Brad & I are up for the challenge!
