My dad linked me to this blog, in which I read one of the greatest lines I’ve ever seen regarding daunting adoption expenses. In the midst of his admission of what a great financial sacrifice it is to adopt, he turns the question around.
I have to wonder, though, what’s the cost of not adopting?
What is the cost for you? Missing God’s blessing? Missing a chance to walk in faith? Missing the most tangible realization of God’s Fatherly love that you could ever experience? And what’s the cost to your child? That they live in an orphanage, abandoned by the ones who birthed them, and ignored by the ones God would have to be their parents?
I always have to disclaim… not everyone is called to adopt. But when there are 143+ million orphans in the world, and 2.1 BILLION professing Christians, it doesn’t add up. Do you dare to pray that God make you the home for one of these precious children of His? (Thanks, April for the stats!)
